PROFILE OVERVIEW

Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743, and died on July 4, 1826. Jefferson was an American statesman, architect, philosopher, and Founding Father. He was the third president of the United States (serving from 1801-1809. The Declaration of Independence was primarily written by Jefferson. Additionally, he was the first Secretary of State serving under Washington and he was John Adams’ vice president.
