PROFILE OVERVIEW

Simón Bolívar was born on July 24, 1783 in Caracas, Venezuela and died on December 17, 1830 in Santa Marta, Colombia. Bolívar was a Venezuelan military/political leader. He is often referred to as El Libertador. He led many countries to their freedom from the Spanish Empire. The countries which gained their independence were Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Venezuela, and Bolivia.
