George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland County, Virginia, and died on December 14, 1799, in Mount Vernon, Virginia. Washington was an American military officer, statesman, and Founding Father. He served as the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797. He led the Continental Army to victory during the American Revolutionary War. He has been called the “Father of his Country” due to his stellar leadership as the United States became a nation.
