PROFILE OVERVIEW

Ernest Shackleton was born on February 15, 1874, in Kilkea, Ireland, and died on January 5, 1922 at sea off the coast of South Georgia. Shackleton was an Anglo-Irish Antarctic explorer. He led three British expeditions to the Antarctic region. He’s often considered one of the great leaders of the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration.
