Constantine the Great was born on February 27, c. 272 in Naissus and died on May 22, 337 in Turkey. Constantine was the Roman emperor from AD 306 to 337 and he was the first to embrace Christianity. He achieved military success in both eastern and western provinces, ultimately triumphing in civil wars against Maxentius and Licinius. By 324, he emerged as the sole ruler of the Roman Empire.
