Alexander the Great of Macedon was born on July 20/21, 356 BC in Pella, Greece, and died on June 10/11 323 BC in Babylon, Iraq BC. He took over Macedonian rule from his father Phillip II early, at age 20 and spent most of his life on a long military campaign throughout the Middle East. Within 10 years of taking power, he amassed one of the largest empires in history stretching from Greece to India. He is considered one of the greatest military leaders of all time and went undefeated in battle.
